In the Bag：囊中之物

In the bag的字面意思是“在袋子里”，把它引申一下，就与中文“犹如探囊取物”的意思一样，表示取得某样东西非常容易，很有把握。

柯林斯词典对in the bag的解释是：If you say that something is in the bag, you mean that you are certain that you will get it or achieve it. 比如你说“Getting a full score in the exam is in the bag”，意思就是“考试拿满分如探囊取物”。当然你也可以用最简单的it is easy to do，但这就不能体现自己的自信了。

In the bag这个说法在20世纪初的澳洲地区就已经出现了，但是意思和现在不同：“A horse set to lose a race is said to be in the bag.”

表示“囊中之物”的in the bag在20世纪20年代产生于美国。1920年5月的一期Mansfield News上有所记载：“if the bag is carried off the field at that stage of the game with the Giants in the lead the game is in the bag and cannot be lost.”这是在说纽约巨人棒球队的一个传统，只要在巨人队领先的比赛阶段把袋子抬出赛场，比赛结果就已经在袋子里了。换句话说，巨人队已经赢得了比赛。
